MMSU spearheads Energy Audit
The Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) Energy Audit team conducted the 2016 Energy Audit on June 1-3, 2016. The activity was extended to small and medium enterprises (MSME) and other government and business establishments to determine the present operating conditions of selected energy consuming facilities/equipment inside the work area of the MSME. It also aimed to identify energy efficiency improvement opportunities and look for possible ways to reduce the operating expenses and at the same time provide assistance in the capability build-up of business establishments involved in energy management activities.
The MMSU Energy Audit Team is composed of experts from various authorized agencies to include Engr. Rogelio U. Binala, Engr. Ian Romas, Engr. Darrel Pasalo together with Engr. Benjamin S. Mercardo, Jr. and Mr. Jahmai O. Grande, both from the DOST-PSTC Ilocos Norte.
Three business establishments in Ilocos Norte were audited. These are the Greenthumb Food Depot located at Brgy. #3 San Ildefonso, Dingras, Ilocos Norte; Pauline’s Baker’s Percent Baker of Brgy. #44 Zamboanga, Laoag City; and JVA Furniture Shop located in Brgy. #17 Tabug, Batac City, Ilocos Norte.
Several steps were applied by the technical experts in the conduct of the activity. These include the conduct of walk-through and preliminary survey; data gathering, testing and measurements; analysis and evaluation of gathered data; and preparation and presentation of final report.
