Radyo Karruba-Burgos lends its limelight to MMSU: Rimat ti Ilocandia this September 4 for its initial broadcast.

Fresh from Batac, Ilocos Norte, the MMSU: Rimat ti Ilocandia brings timely and relevant information and technologies to all the people of Ilocandia from DWNI 91.1 FM Radyo Karruba-Burgos, reaching the farmers, fishers, MSMEs, youth, and interested professionals in the northern part of the province. Aired from 11:30 to 12:00 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, the 30-minute radio program will serve as avenue in disseminating information and technologies along crop production, livestock, management, health, wellness, and nutrition, financial literacy, and others through the various colleges and units as pool of experts.

During the initial live broadcast, Mr. Sean R. Vidad of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Sustainable Development served as the pioneer speaker, discussing about the Care and Maintenance of Livestock during the Rainy Season. The topic is a timely discussion especially with the escalating challenge to keep the farm animals safe and secure amidst the monsoon rains and typhoons visiting the province that bring heavy rainfall. In the coming weeks, experts and focal persons from the other colleges will also serve as speakers to highlight their programs and services, and disseminate relevant information and technologies along their field of expertise.

The radio program is also a strategic way of the University to reach more people, even in the outskirts, as radio still serves as the most effective and efficient channel of communication. It complements other information, communication, and technology services of the Extension Directorate, to continue bringing developmental information and technologies to all the people of Ilocandia.

It can be recalled that the Extension Directorate previously conducted the School-on-the-Air (SOA) on Crops and Livestock Technologies with the DWFB Radyo Pilipinas-Laoag and DWCI 105.1 Radyo Piddig, marking a graduation number of 575 farmers from all corners of Ilocandia. This year, another School-on-the-Air (SOA) on Tarabay iti Pagtaengan, Pagbiagan, Salun-t, ken Dadduma Pay is under conceptualization to empower, encourage, and build everyone in the community, including women, local farmers and fishers, and youth on value-adding and other livelihood opportunities. To date, the Radyo Karruba-Burgos is the second radio station where MMSU:Rimat ti Ilocandia is being aired.

With these activities, it is hoped that more stakeholders will be empowered and updated on the promises of the University to all communities, and assure them of the readiness of MMSU to help them grow. The Ilokano language is used in the radio program to reach even the underprivileged.

Tune in for more updates and information!
