To learn about the best practices and innovations in agriculture and agri-tourism in Ilocos Norte, visitors from the Municipality of Leon in the province of Iloilo visited Mariano Marcos State University today, October 11.

The Iloilo delegation is composed of 85 members of the farmer leaders, agricultural extension workers and municipal officials. Headed by Mr. Hilario Taño, Sangguniang Bayan chairperson of the municipality’s Committee on Agriculture, the group paid a courtesy call to University President Shirley C. Agrupis. They also visited the demonstration farms of MMSU: rice paddy art, President’s model farm, Coordinated Agribusiness, Research and Extension System or CARES Farm, technology demonstration farm for off-season hybrid tomato, and the plant genetic resources garden.

President Agrupis said MMSU warmly welcomes local government units from other provinces “to share our best practices and to explore potential collaborative engagements in research, extension, and production.”

The visitors were guided by the university’s research and extension personnel and its visitors’ bureau. (ED)
