The National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Mariano Marcos State University signed a two-year memorandum of agreement (MoA) today, September 19, at the FEM hall to implement the Research Information Translation and Communication program.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Virgilio Julius Manzano Jr., vice president for Planning and Strategic Foresight; Dr. Bjorn Santos, vice president for Resource Generation and Management; Dr. Marilou Lucas, director for extension; Dr. Dionisio Bucao, director for research; Atty. Ma. Saniata Marcos, MMSU legal officer; President Dr. Aimee Lynn Barrion-Dupo, Executive Director Dr. Bernardo Sepeda; and Information Dissemination section head Ms. Jenny Leigh Daquioag of NRCP.
As part of the agreement, MMSU and NRCP will undertake various research information dissemination activities to enhance the understanding, appreciation, and utilization of primary research findings among diverse audiences, including policymakers, industry professionals, the general public, students, teaching personnel, and researchers.
Dr. Manzano emphasized that the new collaboration is aligned with MMSU’s 7-point agenda, ensuring that valuable research findings reach users and stakeholders. He also added that the partnership is functional in creating relevant and advanced research programs that have a meaningful impact.
Dr. Barrion-Dupo commended MMSU as a vital institution for research initiatives. “The university’s dedication to excellence aligns with the mission of NRCP to promote research, science, and technology initiatives that address societal problems,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sepeda expressed his enthusiasm for future projects with MMSU, noting that this “would enhance the pipeline of researchers and scientists.”
The partnership is expected to streamline the translation and communication of all requested research information while developing linkages and disseminating primary research results through various platforms and methods.
