MMSU upskills faculty to elevate extension services through Development and Community Engagement Training

The MMSU Extension Directorate equipped faculty involved in extension work with advanced knowledge and innovative strategies during the Joint Training on Planning and Implementation of Development Extension and Community Engagement Projects on July 18-19 at the University Hostel.
The two-day training was designed to raise the bar of extension services in line with the university’s agenda to achieve high-impact and transformative extension and outreach programs.
In his speech, Dr. Nathaniel Alibuyog, vice president for research, development, and innovation, underscored the significance of effective planning and the role of faculty members in extension projects. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to transforming farmers from producers to entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, Planning Director Marlowe Aquino discussed critical project planning and implementation elements during the training. His presentation covered various aspects, including understanding the new dimension of development extension and community engagement; instituting collegial development extension projects of operating units; understanding the self and community as spectrums in development extension; community diagnosis and analysis; formative and summative evaluation impact assessment; implementation of development and community engagement projects; strategic development extension, and evaluation methodology. The training also included interactive workshops and sessions to reinforce these concepts.
Dr. Marilou Lucas, Extension director, emphasized the need to equip project leaders and coordinators with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver excellent extension services to the community.
Through strategic initiatives and programs, the MMSU Extension Directorate is dedicated to expanding community engagement and ensuring the delivery of extension services that help transform people's lives.
