MMSU bags 2 awards during the 3rd National Multi-Sectoral Extension Services Convention

Silver and bronze awards were bagged by the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) during the 3rd National Multi-Sectoral Extension Services Convention held last April 5-7, 2017 at the University of Northern Philippines, Vigan City.
The paper entitled Challenges and Opportunities in the Use of Radio Broadcast in Communicating for Development: The Case of MMSU’s School-on-the-Air (SOA) for Sustainable Garlic Production won Silver Award (second place) by Mercy Fausta Gano, Sherlyn Nicolas, Bella C. Gervacio, Aris Reynold Cajigal, Celerino Ancheta, Sosima Demandante, and Glen Deo Valdez while the paper entitled Oyster Mushroom Production: Livelihood from Good Fungi won Bronze Award (third place) by Bella Gervacio, Aris Reynold V. Cajigal, Sherlyn Nicolas, Mercy Fausta Gano, , Sosima Demandante and Roque Mangoma. The two papers were among the 11 entries of best extension practices in the Agriculture and Fishery Categoryfrom the whole country in the said category. The silver award was presented by Dr. Nicolas while Ms. Gervacio presented the bronze award.
The 3rd national convention was organized and hosted by UNP with a theme “Academe-Industry Partnership: New Trend in Extension Service Delivery. The activity aims to provide the participants with working knowledge and skills in strategic approaches on academe-industry partnership in the delivery of extension program/projects/activities and enable them to assess and appreciate the impact of various extension programs. Moreover, the papers presented are the best practices in extension delivery.
Congressman DV Savellano served as the keynote speaker while three plenary papers on extension delivery were presented by Dr. Marlowe U. Aquino, Dr. Romulo T. Agngangan, and Dr. Nelly S. Agngangan, respectively.
There were three categories namely Science and Technology, Education and Agriculture and Fishery. This was attended by various universities and colleges in the Philippines (SB Nicolas).
