MMSU Rimat shares timely info and techs, programs and services

More and more community members are being engaged through the radio program, MMSU: Rimat ti Ilocandia.

For a month now, science- and technology-based information and technologies, testimonies of community members, and activity updates are beefing the radio program time slot and social media page. The program airs at 12 noon to 1:00 in the afternoon through DWFB Radyo Pilipinas Laoag and its FB page, Radyo Pilipinas Laoag (https://www.facebook.com/RadyoPilipinasLaoag/).

In aid to farmers and livestock raisers in this rainy season, Prof. Sean R. Vidad of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Sustainable Development (CAFSD) shares some tips on the care and management of livestock during the rainy season. Access the knowledge sharing at https://fb.watch/dXss-vfr6U/.

To update the public on the programs and services offered by CAFSD, Prof. Ethel Reynda Calivoso, the Extension Coordinator of the college, shares more information on how to avail their services and what other opportunities can be forged with the college. As a strategy to combat the rise of cases of dengue in the province, Mrs. Mary Ann G. Magtoto of the Department of Nursing of the College of Health Sciences shares valuable information and safety tips for safety and security in this rainy season. In response to the increasing price of fertilizers, Dr. Nelly C. Antolin, the former dean of the College of Agroforestry and Forestry of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) in La Union, shares about the Bio-N, a seed inoculant for rice, corn, and other crops that complements 30-50% required inorganic fertilizer input for either seed inoculation, root inoculation, or soil inoculation. Bio-N is one of the technologies promoted by the University through the project, Sustaining Crop Productivity in Climate Vulnerable Areas of Ilocos Norte through Science and Technology Community-based Farms on Climate Resilient Technologies, and sustained through the Seedstock Dispersal Project of the University.

As an update of the continuing activities of the University for the agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources sector, the messages of commitment during the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Agri-Fishery Research and Development and Extension in the Ilocos Region.
