The official design for this year's annual rice paddy art was revealed yesterday, August 24, 2026, coinciding with the University’s 500-day countdown to its Golden Foundation Anniversary. Initiated in 2018, this marks the 9th Paddy Art to be established at MMSU with the sustained support of PhilRice. Unveiling the design was led by University President Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., alongside other University officials, faculty, and staff.
This year’s concept centers on an ASEAN theme titled "MMSU Going ASEAN."
With MMSU hosting activities every 50 days leading up to its 2028 anniversary, the formal launch of the rice paddy art will be a key highlight among the upcoming events.
The rice paddy art is more than just creative expression—it is a living canvas that symbolizes a collective commitment to advancing Philippine agriculture. Utilizing IR 1552 purple rice and standard green rice varieties alongside the anamorphosis technique, the field will yield a stunning three-dimensional visual.
The true value of rice paddy art lies in its power to educate, engage, and empower. It revitalizes interest in agriculture among the youth, promotes improved high-yielding rice varieties, and serves as a platform to honor community and societal leaders who have made significant contributions to nation-building.
