Celebrating this year’s Parambak with foreign guests of the University, the activity sets a milestone in making diverse race converge in celebrating the simplicity of life of the Ilokanoes in MMSU-CAFSD Dingras.

Parambak idiay Talon 2019 is the upgraded version of last year’s concluding activity, convening stakeholders and partners of the institution into one great celebration of life and simplicity in agriculture. New partners in community development were recognized during the festivity, appreciating the farmer associations, individuals, schools, and agencies which have been instrumental in bringing information and technologies closer to the people. Extension activities of selected units of the University were also enjoined to extend their services during the activity such as the College of Teacher Education for the Oras para kadagiti Ubbing, the Health and Wellness Directorate for the Serbisio-Medikal, and the Tienda ni Pres by the Extension Directorate and CAFSD Dingras. Having mothers and youngs, native products such as tupig, rice coffee, chichacorn, boiled corn, puto, and other vegetables were sold in the program area.

During the activity, the Plumeria picto-catalogue showcasing the different plumeria species growing in the province was also officially launched, serving as the go signal of the ceremonial kalachuchi planting with the MMSU Officials and visiting guests and students. According to Dr. Epifania O. Agustin, VP for Research, Extension, and Business, the launching of Dingras as Kalachuchi Campus is a stride towards making every campus of the University, one with distinguishing identity such that Currimao Campus will be known as the Palm Campus, College of Teacher Education (CTE) as the Narra Campus, College of Industrial Technology (CIT) as the Scarlatina Campus, and MMSU Dingras as the Kalachuchi Campus, as we collectively identity MMSU as the University for all. The President’s Model Farm was also officially launched showcasing enhanced technologies in integrated farming for crops and livestock production. The farm, according to PSCA, will be a learning venue not only for students but all the more for the community people and farmers in the province to boost their production through utilization of new interventions and improved farming practices.

Field visit and harvesting in the demonstration area followed the opening of the curtain that showcased the farm plan of the area. Guests and visitors roamed around the area picking vegetables such as pechay, onion, string beans, okra, upo, watermelon, and squash.

Hon. Harumi Yamamoto, Mayor of Takko town, Aomori Prefecture, Japan, and his company graced the occasion along with Taiwanese and American guests, Indonesian exchange students, and exchange students from Bukidnon. In his message, he said that he saw one thing that defines the Ilokanoes—the spirit of unity in all activities—and with this as an edge in forging partnership with other institutions.

The activity concluded with a sharing of blessings to the community people of Brgy. Madamba and Brgy. Albano, Dingras, filling the area with smiles of gratitude and enjoyment.
